Teachers' Opinions on Transformational Leadership Characteristics of School Principals

In this research, it was tried to reveal the teachers' opinions regarding the transformational leadership characteristics of school principals. The research was conducted in a qualitative and phenomenological pattern. Purposeful sampling selection was applied in the research and data was collected from 24 teachers in this way. In total, data was collected by scanning the literature and using a semi-structured interview form approved by the research consultant. While the opinion that teachers are largely supportive of what is expected from senior management in terms of school principals sharing the vision and goals of the school regarding transformational leadership, this was followed by those who stated that they should be involved. The most expressed opinion regarding the methods used to motivate teachers was that the reward method was used. While this is followed by meeting desires and needs, it is seen that the praise method is also used. The prominent opinion regarding the behavior of school principals regarding "empathy and communication" regarding transformational leadership is that it is quite good. Teachers' opinions regarding the behavior of school principals in setting an example are at a good level. The prominent opinion of teachers regarding the behavior of school principals regarding teamwork and support is that they are successful. There are very few people who say that it needs to be improved and that it is quite low. It is largely supported by teachers' opinions regarding school principals' behavior in promoting development. It was observed that the number of teachers who expressed negative opinions on this issue was quite low. While more than half of the teachers' opinions regarding the behavior of school principals in managing change find it sufficient, nearly half consider it inadequate
